Our mission: to help our families as they
lay down a strong spiritual foundation
that we hope, by the work of the Holy Spirit,
will lead children into a living
relationship with God through Jesus Christ.
The information that follows describes our programs during the school year. In the summer, we do not hold Sunday school and our Sunday evening programs are more relaxed. We will have Sunday school for children age 4 - Kindergarten for the entire summer. Summer Sunday school for children 1st - 6th grade will run from June 24 thru September 2, first service only. Our Sunday school kick-off will be held on Sunday, September 9.
Pre-school &
Elementary Ages
(For nursery information, see below)
First Service (9-10:15 AM):
Sunday school is provided for first service only: Children age two through grade 6 learn of God’s faithful love and plan for redemption. Using the Bible as the one and only standard of truth,
students are taught who God is,
how he has revealed himself and his will
to us, and how to live in his presence and with one
another. We use curriculum materials
from Desiring God Ministries.
There is a half-hour break between services. It’s a great time to talk with others and move to and from worship. We do ask, though, that if you are picking up a child from a class that you do it immediately after first service so our teachers can tidy and leave their classrooms. Some of them have kids to pick up as well.
Second Service (10:45-12 PM)
Two-year-olds remain in their classroom for nursery. Three-year olds may be taken to the two-year-old nursery, or go with their parents to worship. An optional Children’s Worship service for third grade and younger may
be offered during the sermon time. See the inside cover of your bulletin for detailed information.
Sunday Evening activities
6 - 7:30 PM:
Four and five year-olds: fun and learning with
curriculum materials by Children Desiring God.
Girls in grades 1 - 6 are led by Christian women from our congregation to help them grow in their relationship with the Lord. Bible study, service projects, and fun activities encourage girls to apply Biblical principles to their daily living. Curriculum materials are by Pioneer Clubs.
Boys in grades 1 - 6 Our program is led by men and is designed to teach and model Christian manhood through relationships, Bible study, and fun, challenging activities. Curriculum materials are by Christian Service Brigade and help men to minister to their own sons or serve as surrogate dads for boys without fathers.
General Information
We hope your child’s time here will be a positive learning and growing experience. Feel free to discuss concerns or questions with your child’s teacher or with Janet Albright, Interim Director of Children’s Ministry, at 610-286-6790, ext. 107, or with our church secretary, Ginny Foltz, ext. 110.
Enrollment
Each child regularly attending a children’s program must submit an enrollment form, available at the Welcome/Registration Center in the Education Wing. There are more detailed forms for nursery-aged children. Be sure to note for us if your child has an allergy or a specific need.
Classroom Organization
We are blessed with experienced volunteer teachers and helpers who demonstrate a great love for the Lord and for children. All of our teachers are committed CEFC members.
Please note: Children of all ages are welcome in our worship services, provided they can be quiet and content. However, because it’s important to avoid distractions in worship, we appreciate if parents make use of our mom’s nursing room, nurseries, and classes for kids who find it hard to remain quiet. Please be sensitive to other worshipers. Sometimes a happy, gurgling child can be as disruptive as a crying one.
